On November 29, 2023, the second inter-sectoral debate unfolded within the plasticLIFEcycle project. This time, the PLC project team visited the Nysa municipality, joined by representatives from Przedsiębiorstwo Gospodarki Komunalnej EKOM Sp z o o in Nysa, Zakład Komunalny in Opole, and Nyska Energetyka Cieplna Nysa Sp. z o. o. The purpose was to engage in discussions regarding present and future challenges, as well as opportunities in waste management.

Throughout the debate, the project’s beneficiaries, namely INVESTEKO S.A., EkoPartner Silesia, and the European Ecological Responsibility Forum, provided the invited guests with insights into the technical, technological, and legal facets of the plasticLIFEcycle plant.

We extend our gratitude to all participants for their enthusiastic involvement in the debate and for providing us with the invaluable opportunity to share knowledge and experiences in such an engaging manner.

A photo collage from the debate is presented below.

Co-financing institutions

Objective 1

to design, implement, test and validate the pilot PLC plant for efficient sorting of mixed hard plastic waste

Objective 2

to implement standardized PLC-compatible procedures for mixed hard plastic waste pre-sorting in municipal waste treatment plants and thus to create standardized waste stream as an input to PLCplant (3,500t/y)

Objective 3

to design, implement, test and validate the pilot unit for production of tailored compounds for products manufacturing with 70-90% recycled material from PLC (capacity 400t/y)

Objective 4

to design, implement, test and validate the innovative mobile 3Dprinting prototype with 100% recycled material from PLC (capacity 65t/y)

Objective 5

to establish new circular business network (i.e. PLCnetwork) to boost cooperation between municipal waste treatment plants, plastic-recyclers and converters (12 plants, 3 countries)

Objective 6

to increase the quality of recycled polyolefins reaching levels of food packaging production - 3 newly developed tailored compounds

Objective 7

to develop 5 market-ready products using bulk amounts (70-100%) of PLC-recycled materials

Objective 8

to prepare PLCtechnology replication&transfer starting with environmental decisions for two full-scale plants

Reduction of greenhouse gases (tons/year)

Reduction of waste (tons/year)

Dissemination and publicity (workshops & conferences)
