Workshop for local groups
The first workshop was held for the local community, with students from Technical School No. 1 in Ruda Śląska participating.
The main goal was to introduce young people to the principles of the circular economy and the practical application of plastic reuse technologies. Participants learned about the plasticLIFEcycle project and observed the operation of the innovative PLC demonstration plant.
The event began with an introductory lecture by Piotr Góral, an expert from EkoPartner Silesia Sp. z o.o. Alongside the theoretical content, the session included live demonstrations, such as how various plastics react to fire and heat. This interactive format sparked great interest—students engaged actively, asking questions about material properties and identification methods. One particularly intriguing topic was recognizing plastics by the smell they emit when heated.
Participants then toured the PLC plant—showcasing a proprietary technology for plastic separation and processing developed under the project. They not only saw the system in action but also connected it to the concepts presented earlier. After a short networking break, they joined a Q&A session, followed by a group tour of the KWK Polska Coal Mine Tower, led by Witold Szwedkowski, communication manager for the LIFE Archiclima project.
